The Staycation Continues....

San Pedro Springs Park Pool Tuesday-Sunday 1-7pm through Aug.17th
One of the great things about being a dad is introducing your kids to the fun things that are around the city. This summer I wanted to show some of the older things in San Antonio that have history yet are still active and fun and not having to take out a mortgage on extras. One of my favorite places this year is rediscovering San Pedro Springs Park, one of the country's oldest municipal parks. Across from San Antonio College on San Pedro. The park has the McFarlin Tennis Center, San Pedro Playhouse Theater, San Pedro Library, and most of all, the San Pedro Springs Pool (Although no longer a spring fed pool). This pool is huge! It never really seems crowded because of it's size. Surrounded by hundreds year old trees, it has the perfect shade-Sun ratio. The best part is admission to the pool is FREE (your tax money at work). A lot of history can be found in this park, it was founded in 1709. I am amazed that so many people do not know of the history and usefulness of this park. Here's the City link to the park:

They are planning in the fall a major renovation of the park that is to increase the walking trails and add some newer playgrounds so enjoy the rest of the summer and the history of  the park.
